If it's one thing artist D Smoke doesn't do - it's miss! Returning to your ears with new heat, the rapper released a new single + video combo dedicated to the matriarchs of his family and Black women of the world.
"Rapture" the title of his latest single pays homage to the contrasting realities that exist within the world of a woman who is often taught to equate tolerance and at times pain, with love. Using his skillful pen, he rethinks the ways of Intimacy from a man's view to better serve the Black woman, which ultimately affects the whole hood.
Starting off with a reenaction of the legendary conversation between Nikki Giovanni and James Baldwin, the Black habits rapper provides a visual answer to the questions which his lyrics pose. In complete grayscale, the emotional video directed by Child features his mother and cousin Tiffany Gouché as they create a powerful piece that honors the magic of the Black woman while sending love and light to the women whom we have lost to violence.
